Terror shook the whole world again, after the disastrous 9/11 tragedy in 2001, when an attack on the Capital Gazette newspaper, today, in Annapolis, US, resulted in the death of four people! Another one died after being transported to hospital. The dead victims who were identified were the editors Rob Hiaasen, Gerald Fischman, Wendi Winters, and John McNamara. The fifth one, Rebecca Smith, was an ad sales assistant for the paper.
Local authorities told that the entire newspaper was targeted, as can be inferred from this gruesome attack!
The suspect of the attack is Warren Ramos, as being revealed by law enforcement officials. He had also filed a defamation lawsuit against the Capital Gazette newspaper, in the past.
Capital Gazette reporter Selene San Felice told that, “What happened here was very calculated.”
“I think this person was going after editors,” she told further.
The moment the news of attack spread out, other law enforcement authorities increased the security around major news organizations in the US.
The last time multiple journalists were killed was in 2015, when an ex-employee attacked two members of WDBJ TV news crew, in-between a live report in Virginia.
