In India, if anyone’s planning to buy an iPhone at the moment, then go ahead. Buy any phone you want, but iPhone X! That means, you can go for the 6, 6s and 6 Plus, 7 and 7 Plus, which, normally, will suit your pocket. But if you want the ultimate giant of all of them, then, it will now cost you really high! Want to know the reason?
The price hike on custom duty by the Indian government. Yes, from today, that is, December 18th, the prices of the iPhones that are basically imported from the US in India, have been increased by their MRP.
In other words, speaking straightly, Apple has also increased the prices in India for its iPhones, by 3.5%. Which means that the more advanced and newer versions of the iPhone, like ‘8 and 8 Plus’, and the ‘iPhone X’, won’t be so dear for your wallet (exception, if you don’t mind shelling out on regular basis).
As per the latest hike in the prices, from today itself (with immediate effect), the newer MRPs of the following iPhone versions will be:
iPhone 6 32 GB: Rs.30780
iPhone 6s 32 GB: Rs.41,550
iPhone 6s 128 GB: Rs.50,660
iPhone 6s Plus 32 GB: Rs.50,740
iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB: Rs.59,860
iPhone 7 32 GB: Rs.50,810
iPhone 7 128 GB: Rs.59,910
iPhone 7 Plus 32 GB: Rs.61,060
iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB: Rs.70,180
iPhone 8 64 GB: Rs.66,120
iPhone 8 256 GB: Rs.79,420
iPhone 8 Plus 64 GB: Rs.75,450
iPhone 8 Plus 256 GB: Rs.88,750
iPhone X 64 GB: Rs.92,430
iPhone X 256 GB: Rs.1,05,720
This hike has been announced after the government of India raised the custom duty charge on the phones being imported in the country from outside.
The custom duty earlier was at 10% which has now been increased to 15%. But for the budget lovers of the iPhone SE, Apple has not increased the prices on the SE models, since those are assembled in India only, by Wistron, since June, 2017.
