Mani Ratnam being one of those classy directors of all time, has always created speculations among the public with his upcoming movies. His 1980’s hits are in the favourites list of even today’s youth. Katru Veliyidai is next in the row.

His last movie, ‘OK Kanmani’ gathered mix reviews among critics, but was an instant hit among youngsters. Dealing with the bizarre concept of ‘Living together’ this movie was well ahead of the current scenario in Tamil Nadu. Even since the release of ‘OK Kanmani’, it was confirmed that Mani Ratnam’s next film was with Karthi. Interestingly, Katru Veliyidai marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari.

On 25th January, the glimpse of the movie released and went viral over social media. It has created excitement among A R Rahman lovers because the first single is said to release on February 2nd this year. The first look has given clues that the movie would be a Mani Ratnam style, breezy love story.

The movie is special for the director-music composer duo as this marks their 25th year of journey together in Tamil cinema from 1992 to 2017. They have made 15 movies and every other song is still a blessing to the ears of the listeners. Songs that emerge from this duo are still topping the charts in the evergreen songs list.

This star-studded special movie from the iconic filmmaker and Oscar-winning Music composer is said to release on April 7 worldwide. The movie is considered to showcase the acting skills of Karthi who was last lauded for his spontaneous acting in ‘Madras’.

The movie would also release in Telugu as ‘Cheliyaa’. The movie is set against the backdrop of Kashmir while some parts have also been filmed in Ooty. Karthi will be essaying the role of a fighter pilot and Aditi will feature as a doctor. Other famous stars would be seen in the movie are R J Balaji and Delhi Ganesh.
