India's Manushi Chhillar became 2017's Miss World!

What a greatest ever moment it was for India’s Manushi Chhillar, aged 20, who was crowned this year’s Miss World! And it’s after a long-long wait of 17 years, that any Indian beauty has won the prestigious crown for the nation. In an event held on Saturday, at Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China, Manushi became the winner from among the best 118 contestants of various countries.

While Manushi was declared the ultimate Queen, Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza was crowned the first runner-up and Miss England Stephanie Hills was declared the second runner-up.

If you still don’t know anything, about the newly crowned Miss World, then here are some facts about her.

Manushi Chhillar is a Haryana-born girl and currently a medical student who aspires to be a successful cardiac surgeon. She got her school education from St. Thomas’ School, Delhi. As she wanted to represent her country on the biggest international pageant, she decided to take a one-year break from her studies!

Now, she is overall the sixth Indian to be crowned Miss World, and the last Indian beauty to be crowned, before Manushi was star actress Priyanka Chorpa-back in the year 2000!

The moment Manushi became the new Miss World, every big celebrity and prominent figure from the country wished her. Some of the important ones involved were Priyanka Chopra herself, who was elated at Manushi’s dream-come-true moment and congratulated her via twitter.

PM Narendra Modi also congratulated Manushi for making the country proud, again after 17 years.
