Pakistan’s Supreme Court is all geared up to pass its verdict on PM Nawaz Sharif and his offspring on the Panama Papers controversy.

The Panama Papers case was a leak of over 11 million documents that revealed financial information of offshore accounts. The documents belonged to the law firm Mossack Fonseca. The papers revealed several high profile names including King Salman of Saudi Arabia,  President Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates and  Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine among others.

Several Indians like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, KP Singh and Vinod Adani were also named.

As per a report by PTI, there is speculation that an adverse ruling may force Nawaz Sharif to step down.

Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan had filed a petition about the illegal assets held by Mr Sharif and his family in London. The Panama Papers reveal that Mr Sharif’s children have been maintaining these assets through offshore companies.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been tweeting about the court decision. In a tweet, she indirectly hinted at Imran Khan’s party and said that when everything else failed his party could only rely on a court decision.

Imran Khan says that they will campaign hard for the next elections irrespective of today’s decision.
