The Principal and two members from the management of Ryan International School in Gurugram have been arrested over the murder of seven-year-old boy.
The boy was found lying in a pool blood in the school toilet on September 8 with injuries on his neck. This incident triggered protest by angry parents’ and they accused the management of negligence.
After initial investigation, a bus conductor was arrested who confessed to the crime. The man killed the class 2 boy when he resisted a sexual assault bid, the police said. In an immediate effect, the school Principal has also been suspended.
A medical that conducted the post mortem examination said that victim’s throat was slit twice. The Police investigating the case revealed that on questioning the accused said that he attempted sexual assault on the child. But the doctors, however, denied sexual abuse.
According to reports, the toilet is shared by students, as well as bus drivers, conductors and class four employees of the school.
The Gurgaon Police arrested Ashok Kumar, the conductor after evidence pointed towards his role. According to Hindustan Times, the Investigators also retrieved 16 CCTV footages from the school and which proves him guilty.
The police reportedly received a call from school authorities around 8 am and they rushed to the spot along with the unit.
“The victim after being stabbed in his neck, struggled and crawled taking the help of walls outside the toilet when a fellow student and the gardener noticed him,” said Ashok Bakshi, deputy commissioner of police, south Gurgaon to the media.
The angry parents have been attacking the management for the negligence. On Sunday the protest became violent. According to reports, protesters set ablaze liquor shop close to the school in Gurugram.
The protesters also gathered in front of the school demanding a CBI probe in the murder. Police lathicharged people protesting outside the school premises, reported The Indian Express. Following this the father of the deceased student Varun Thakur requested the protesters to maintain peace. “Want to request all parents who are supporting us that please do not get involved in violence,” Varun Thakur was quoted by ANI. “Police is doing its job, request a parallel CBI inquiry so that every detail related to the case is revealed,” added Thakur.
On Sunday, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said action will be taken against the management of the school. “Under Section 75 Juvenile Act, action will be taken against school management. Accused will be presented before court within a week. Action has been taken against management and owner of Ryan International School,” Education Minister was quoted by The Indian Express.
Following this Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has assured immediate action. “Have asked for a report. Principal has been suspended, whatever lapses will be found will be acted against. It’s a sad incident and heinous crime. The administration has nabbed suspect; directed authorities to complete formalities within 7 days,” he told ANI.
