Trump’s hatred towards the Muslim community was significant in his speeches during his election campaigns. With him signing an ‘extreme vetting’ order has only made this clearer . The order will keep visitors from seven Muslim countries-Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia from entering the United States for a 90 day period. The President said that this was necessary to keep terrorists from entering the nation and avoid any unfortunate incidents. He said that the US soldiers are fighting hard against terrorists from these seven countries so that they do not cause hindrance to the people of the United States. It is not clear whether the order applies to the people who already have permission to live in the United States due to their jobs and other valid reasons.

The refugees entering the country is also said to be reduced to 50,000 in 2017 compared to last year’s 117,000. A 120 days suspension period has also been issued against the refugees from Syria. Many have lashed back at the President for this uncalled move. Minorities in the seven countries might be exempted from this restriction. Hence Christians could find a way out of these countries.

The executive order is titled “Protection of the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.” Almost 11 million Syrian have been displaced and 500,000 killed under Bashar Al-Assad’s regime. US constitution clearly states to not discriminate anyone on the basis of religion and Trump has done just that in his first month in office. Trump said that only people who will love the people and country dearly need to enter the United States. Christians stuck in Middle East and North Africa will be helped to flee to US. Trump said that they have been treated badly in those countries in the name of religion and have been restricted from fleeing to United States.

But from reports it is a known fact that ISIS have caused far more damage to the Muslims than targeted minority religions like Christianity. More counties can be added to this list and banned from entering the US. The Homeland Security Secretary and Secretary of State have been asked to draw more countries into the list in a 60 day period, who they think poses a threat to the United States.

Civil Rights groups, Democrats and immigrants have expressed their opposition toward the order calling it distasteful. Some have shared references to tears in the eyes of the Statue of Liberty because of how low the administration has stooped to. House Minority leader, Pelosi said,”This administration has mistaken cruelty for strength and prejudice for strategy.”  Attorneys have said that they will do anything to protect people from this new order as it is violating the Constitution’s principle.
