After launching the Honor 8 Lite smartphone in India, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its next high-spec smartphone, dubbed as the “Honor 8 Pro” in the Indian tech market on Thursday, July 6. The company has recently unveiled its premium Honor 8 Pro smartphone in India and now the e-commerce website Amazon India, through a teaser on their website, has announced that their e-commerce platform will be the exclusive retail partner for the upcoming Honor 8 Pro smartphone. Amazon India has already put up a page with ‘Notify Me’ live button, where interested customers can register for notifications about the Honor 8 Pro. However, the pricing details of the Honor 8 Pro has not been revealed by the company yet but looking at the specifications we can expect this smartphone’s price will fall in high mid-range budget. Although the Honor 8 Pro, aka Honor V9 is now retailing in China with a price tag of CNY 3499 (approximately Rs. 33,000).
To recall, the Honor 8 Pro was launched in China earlier this year as Honor V9 before making its debut in the European market as the Honor 8 Pro. The smartphone is the successor to the company’s previous Honor 8 device, which was launched in October last year. Now, the premium Honor 8 Pro comes equipped with latest technology, upgraded features, better specifications and premium design. The major highlights of the smartphone are its 12MP+12MP rear camera setup, powerful 2.4GHz Kirin 960 processor, 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and a decent 4000mAh battery.
Honor 8 Pro Specifications and Features:
In terms of specifications, the Honor 8 Pro comes equipped with a 5.7-inch QHD LTPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and has a pixel density of 515ppi. The device is powered by a 2.4GHz HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core (4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 and 4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A73) processor coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Honor 8 Pro is backed up by a 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the smartphone runs company’s proprietary Emotion UI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The smartphone also features an IR Blaster that can be used as a remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.
Talking about its photography department, the new Honor 8 Pro houses a dual rear camera setup that comes combined with 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 12-megapixel monochrome sensor. The rear camera features also include an f/2.2 aperture, laser autofocus, LED flash and support 4K UHD video recording at 30fps. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture for capturing selfies and making video calls. The front camera is capable of recording 1080p Full-HD videos at 60fps.
In terms of connectivity, the Honor 8 Pro supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (nano-SIM + nano-SIM/microSD) slot. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Fingerprint (rear-mounted), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Ambient Light sensor, Digital Compass sensor, and Proximity sensor. The Honor 8 Pro is fuelled by a high-density 4000mAh non-removable battery. Dimension wise, the handset measures at 157.0 x 77.50 x 6.97mm and weighs 184 grams.
