In the midst of action and romantic film releases in Bollywood, Vidya Balan’s Kahaani 2 is set to take over the box office with its suspense filled story line, giving the audience a totally different Bollywood “Kahaani.”
Kahaani 2, which is the second installment of the Kahaani franchise, has Vidya Balan playing the lead role again, but with an entirely different story line which keeps the people guessing whether the actress is playing the role of a victim or an accused. It also stars another actor, Arjun Rampal who makes his debut in the Kahaani franchise.
Throughout her career in the film industry, Vidya Balan has seen many ups and downs, to the extent that she has also witnessed back-to-back flops of her movies. Ghanchakkar, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Pyaar ke Side Effects did not do well at the box office.
In a recent interview, Vidya Balan admitted that she was disheartened and even considered taking a long break from her work. Adding to her woes was her ill health and weight issues.
But it seems Kahaani 2 may just be the lucky charm to turn the tide in her favour.
Ghosh’s Kahaani, which was released in 2012, was readily accepted by the audience as it was filled with suspense till the very end. Kahaani 2 could conquer the box office as people would want to watch the sequel, expecting it to be as mysterious as its predecessor. The trailer of the movie definitely builds up anxiety and keeps you on the edge wanting to know what happens.
Kahaani 2, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Pen Limited India, hits the screen on December 2, 2016.
