German luxury car manufacturer, Audi has launched the facelifted version of its A3 Cabriolet sedan in India with a starting price of Rs 47.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company confirmed that the all Audi dealerships across the country have already started taking bookings as the model will go be on sale in the next few days. The four-seat convertible, which comes with a host of cosmetic updates, lightweight construction, best-in-class safety, comfort and a new, more fuel-efficient engine.
Commenting on the launch, Audi India Head Rahil Ansari said: “It is just the beginning of a very exciting line up of new and improved vehicles that we plan to unveil in 2017. The new Audi A3 Cabriolet perfectly truly reflects ‘luxury without compromise’.” Ansari said the Audi A3 Cabriolet made its maiden appearance in India in 2014 and the company had received an overcoming response from young and young-at-heart buyers.
AUDI A3 CABRIOLET SPECIFICATION: –
Design:
At the exterior, the 2017 Audi A3 Cabriolet gets similar design changes as the new generation A4 that was launched in India last year. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4,423 mm in length, 1,793mm in width, 1,409mm in height and gets a long wheelbase measuring 2,595mm for that sporty proportions. The front of the Audi A3 Cabriolet gets revised headlamp design with new LED DRL (Daytime running lights, a signature on every modern Audi) as well as the updated matrix full-LED headlamps, a more pronounced hexagonal grille and more aggressive looking bumpers. Talking about rear lamps, it gets redesigned tail-lamps with a distinctive configuration. Additionally, it also gets dynamic turn signals which are installed in LED rear lights.
Interior Features:
Inside the cabin, the new A3 Cabriolet facelift gets a host of new features such as three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, new electrically retractable 7-inch coloured display with the MMI interface, satellite navigation and new Milano leather upholstery. The hi-fi sound system from Bang and Olufsen and smart phone integration system will be optional on the convertible. However, Audi’s high-tech Virtual Cockpit digital dial system doesn’t seem to be on the cards. As for features, it also gets dual zone air conditioning with sunlight dependent control, Audi parking system plus which includes sensors and camera at both front and rear side of the car.
Safety Features:
In terms of safety, the A3 Cabriolet comes with five airbags and ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution). The highlight of the A3 Convertible is its rooftop, which is made of a special and water-proof fabric that has helped Audi to reduce the overall weight of the car. The soft rooftop insulates the cabin well against exterior sounds and the roof can be opened or retracted using its electrohydraulic mechanism at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
Engine:
The Audi A3 Cabriolet comes with a 1.4 litre TFSI petrol engine, that generates maximum power output of 150HP and maximum torque of 150NM, paired to a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission. The turbocharged motor comes with Cylinder on Demand (COD) technology that temporary shuts off two cylinders when the engine is operating under partial load.
Fuel Efficiency:
Interestingly, the company claims that the A3 Cabriolet returns an impressive fuel economy of 19.20 km/l, which is quite high on fuel economy for a performance car. The A3 Cabriolet can manage its speed boost from 0-100kmph in only 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 250.
Colors:
Audi A3 cabriolet comes in 14 different colors but in India the A3 cabriolet is available in 9 dazzling color options – Brilliant Black, Amalfi White, Glacier White Metallic, Floret Silver Metallic, Lotus Grey Metallic, Dakota Grey Metallic, Misano Red Pearl Effect, Daytona Grey Pearl Effect and Monsoon Grey Metallic.
