After unveiling at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona back in February, Chinese smartphone maker Gionee launched their flagship Gionee A1 smartphone in the Indian market in March this year. Now, the company on Tuesday announced a special Signature Edition of Gionee A1 smartphone for the Indian market. Dubbed as the “Virat Kohli’s Signature Edition Gionee A1”, the new special edition of Gionee A1 comes decorated with Gionee’s brand ambassador and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli’s signature at the rear panel. Priced at Rs. 19,999, the new Gionee A1 Virat Kohli Signature Edition is already now listed for pre-orders on e-commerce website Amazon.in, and the same will be made available for purchase starting June 27 at 12 pm IST in three body colour options– Gold, Black and Grey.
As a part of an introductory offer, the company also announced a pre-booking offer for its Gionee A1 special edition buyers. Those customer, who pre-book a Virat Kohli’s Signature Edition Gionee A1 smartphone, they will get a Sennheiser headphone for free along with up to Rs 1,280 as Amazon Pay balance on purchase. Other introductory offer on the new limited edition Gionee A1 include an additional Rs. 2,000 off on product exchange for pre-booking buyers, and up to 45GB data free for five months on Vodafone. Gionee says that the special edition of Gionee A1 smartphone is targeted for all fans of the Indian cricket team captain, Virat Kohli. The Gionee A1 Signature Edition features similar specifications as its original variant, which is now retailing in India with a price tag of Rs 16,999. The main highlights of the Gionee A1 smartphone are its heavy-duty 4010mAh battery and the excellent selfie camera.

To recall, Gionee A1 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 octa-core processor paired with Mali T860MP2 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee A1 runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
In terms of optics, the new Gionee A1 houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, a 1/3.06-inch Sony IMX258 sensor, 5P lens and dual-LED flash. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel front-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06-inch sensor, and 5P lens. The selfie camera also comes with an LED flash module for capturing selfies and making video call even in low light. Additionally, the Gionee A1 features Waves MaxxAudio technology for superior sound quality.
In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) Gionee A1 offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. The Gionee A1 comes packed with a high-density 4010mAh battery with 18W ultra-fast charging power adapter for fast charging. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint sensor and Gyroscope sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 154.5 x 76.5 x 8.5 mm and weighs 182 grams.
