South Korean consumer electronics company LG on Monday launched a new 8-inch FHD tablet, called the “LG G Pad IV FHD LTE” in the company’s homeland, South Korea. Priced at KRW 352,000 (approx. Rs. 20,000), the new LG G Pad IV tablet is now already made available for purchase in South Korea via LG’s official mobile carrier LG Uplus shop in Dark Brown colour option. The main highlight of the tablet is its lightweight. The LG G Pad IV tablet weighs only 290 grams and it can be considered “as light as a can of soda.”
The company claims that the tablet’s lightweight build design provides high convenience for kids, women and young people, who do not like to carry a heavy tablet. The new LG G Pad IV 8.0 FHD tablet is the successor to the company’s previous G Pad III 8.0, which was launched in May last year. But unfortunately, the company has made no official announcements about the pricing details and availability of the LG G Pad IV tablet for other markets.
Technically speaking, the LG G Pad IV comes equipped with an 8.0-inch full-HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and has a good 16:10 aspect ratio for better content viewing experience. The tablet is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor, coupled with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the new LG device is backed up by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via micro SD card. On the software (OS) front, the LG G Pad IV runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the LG G Pad IV 8.0 tablet sports a 5-megapixel rear camera. On the front, there is an another 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. LG had added a host of customisations to the G Pad IV tablet, around the software front. The tablet comes loaded with an easy-to-view mode that effectively reduces the amount of harmful blue light emitted from the LED display panel–to make reading comfortable. It has a dedicated physical “Q button”, which is placed on the right side of the tablet to activate the Easy-to-view mode. Apart from this the device also supports Dual Window and LG’s popular Knock code to unlock the device quickly.
In terms of connectivity, the LG G Pad IV tablet supports 4G LTE connectivity (optional). Other connectivity options on the tablet include Wi-Fi 802.11 (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, Miracast, and a Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the tablet is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery. Dimensionally, the LG G Pad IV measures 216.2 X 127 X 6.9 mm and weighs only 290 grams.
