It’s been a long time since Ranbir Kapoor delivered a stand-out performance. Although Aye Dil Hai Mushkil was an exception last year but, there wasn’t the kind of an impact that he had in movies like Rockstar, Barfi or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Anurag Basu crafted the Barfi so delicious that it had infused a long lasting impression on everyone’s heart. And now that same impression has been infused into Jagga Jasoos too. It’s a joyride, from the word go!
A great musical, but with a length of more than 2hrs and 40 minutes-won’t disappoint you. Yes, it’s a magical land where Jagga (Ranbir Kapoor) is basically a ‘mature child’-due to his inexplicable behavior and weakness of speaking words, clearly and fast-still, he has a great skill of communication for questioning. On the other hand, Shruti (Katrina Kaif) is full of energy and confidence, having no limits. Together, they make the perfect chemistry in the story that feels like a fairy land, thanks to an outstanding Cinematography by Ravi Varman.
Another attraction that the film draws is its large number of songs, that are not actually long but in a way fillers and necessary for this story to be told. Almost 29 songs-quite a big size; yet, for a reason. Well, some of them are extremely soothing to the ears. Interestingly, Govinda is also playing an interesting part in the movie, but that will be revealed only when you watch it.
There are also some influences of many past films but it won’t be a distraction; those influences infact play a key role as the film progresses. Anurag Basu has worked on the story, the scenes and the performances, and it can be clearly seen.
