After launching the Q8 smartphone in the Italian market, now it seems like that the South Korean electronics giant LG is all set to launch its latest mid-range smartphone with FullVision display, dubbed as the “LG Q6” in the Indian tech market on Thursday, August 10. The company has already started sending out “save the date” media invites for its upcoming smartphone launch event next week, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, August 10 in the country. Unfortunately, the pricing details and the availability of the LG Q6 have not been revealed by the company yet but as expected it might be revealed on the day of launching. On the other hand, the e-commerce website Amazon India, through a teaser on their website, has announced that their e-commerce platform will be the exclusive retail partner for the LG G6 device. Amazon India has already put up a page with ‘Notify Me’ live button, where interested customers can register for notifications about the LG’s next mid-range smartphone.
If you don’t remember, the South Korean company launched their mid-range LG Q6 smartphone in the month of July this year at an event in Poland along with company’s another two mid-range devices, LG Q6+ and LG Q6a. At the time of launch, the company announced that the new LG Q6 will go on sale in key Asian markets starting this month, followed by Europe, Latin America, and North America. LG also confirmed that the exact pricing details of the new Q6 will be revealed at the time of sale. In the Indian smartphone market, the LG Q6 will likely to be priced somewhere in between the Rs 18,990 and Rs 19,990.
The main highlight of the new LG Q6 is its wonderful FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio as we have seen on the company’s flagship LG G6. Instead of a fingerprint recognition button, the LG Q6 features LG’s proprietary “Face Recognition” technology to make the device secure.
In terms of design, the new LG Q6 smartphone borrows a lot of its characteristics from the company’s previous flagship smartphone, LG G6. The smartphone sports an ultra-strong 7000 series aerospace aluminium unibody construction and an aluminium curved frame all around, giving it an overall premium look. The 7000 series aerospace aluminium metal frame makes the devices quite durable. Basically, the LG Q6 looks very identical to the LG G6, including its FullVision display and super-slim bezels. The device also features onscreen navigation buttons and lack the fingerprint sensor. The volume up-down keys are placed on the left-hand edge, while the power/lock button is situated on the right-hand edge of the smartphone. The rear panel of the handset houses a 13MP primary camera, a LED flash module, while the top front panel features a 5MP selfie camera and an earpiece. The speaker grilles are seen on the rear end of the device, while a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the very bottom edge of the handset along with a USB Type-B 2.0 charging port sitting in the middle. However, the overall design is quite similar to what we have seen on the LG G6.
Technically speaking, the LG Q6 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 and an 18:9 (or 2:1) aspect ratio and has a pixel density of 442 ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core (4 x Cortex A53 1.4GHz + 4 x Cortex A53 1.1GHz) processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the LG Q6 is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Talking about its software fronts, the LG Q6 runs company’s proprietary UX 6.0 UI custom skin, based on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
For photography, the LG Q6 features a 13-megapixel standard angle sensor with autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 100-degree wide angle sensor coupled for capturing better groufie and video calling. The front camera also comes integrated with face recognition sensor for biometric security.
In terms of connectivity, the LG Q6 offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, NFC, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-B 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the LG Q6 comes packed with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery with fast-charging support. Dimensionally, the handset measures 142.5 x 69.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 149 grams.
