Soon after launching the Note 5 Lite C in the Indian market, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Coolpad on Sunday updated its mid-range smartphone series portfolio with the launch of a new smartphone, dubbed as the “Coolpad Cool Play 6” in the Indian market. Carried a price tag of Rs. 14,999, the new Coolpad Cool Play 6 will be made available for purchase in India starting September 4 (Monday) exclusively via e-commerce website Amazon India in Gold and Black colour variants. If you don’t remember, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 was first launched in China in the month of May this year with a price tag of CNY 1499 (approximately Rs 14,000/$217). Targeted at gaming enthusiasts, Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes equipped with a massive 6GB of RAM and mammoth sized 4060mAh battery to justify its tag of a gaming phone. The device also packs some decent hardware that can run high-end games such as Nova 5, Asphalt Xtreme, etc.
In terms of design, Coolpad Cool Play 6 sports an all-metal unibody design with metal frame all around, giving it an overall premium outlook. The phone also features dual rear camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located just under the rear cameras. The smartphone also sports a trio of capacitive navigation touch buttons for multitasking, back and home-screen. The volume up-down keys and the power/lock buttons are all placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the very top edge of the handset. This phone also comes with a dual-tone, dual-LED flash sensor which is located next to its rear cameras. And dual speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the device along with a USB Type-C port sitting in the middle.

Talking about its specifications, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD in-cell display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The phone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 chipset (Quad 1.95GHz ARM Cortex A72 and Quad 1.44GHz A53) clubbed with Adreno 510 image processing unit to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 is backed up by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card. On the software front, the device runs Journey custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
For photography, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 features a dual rear camera setup that comes combined with one 13-megapixel RGB sensor and one 13-megapixel Monochrome sensor. The secondary sensor allows to capture the depth of field information and to enhance low-light photography. The main sensor comes with 6P lens, an f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), and a dual-tone LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with f/2.2 aperture for capturing selfies and making video calls.
In terms of connectivity, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C port for super-fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes packed with a powerful 4060 mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of video playback, up to 9 hours of web browsing, up to 6 hours of extreme gaming, and up to 252 hours of standby time. Dimensionally, the handset measures 152.4 x 75.2 x 8.45mm and weighs 175 grams.
