UM Lohia Two Wheelers (UML) has expanded its portfolio with the launch of two new cruiser bikes, Renegade Commando Classic and Renegade Mojave in the Indian two-wheeler market. To recall, the Renegade Commando Classic cruiser was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo last year, whereas the Renegade Mojave edition is all-new offering from the company in its Commando series of cruiser bikes. UM Motorcycles has already started accepting bookings for both the motorcycles, while the deliveries of the motorcycles to its owners will commence sometime later this month. To pre-book the new Renegade Commando Classic and Renegade Mojave edition, prospective customers will have to visit the company’s 60 authorised dealerships across the country. As for pricing, the Renegade Commando Classic has been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 1.89 lakh, while the Renegade Mojave edition has been priced at Rs. 1.80 lakh (all prices are mentioned ex-showroom, Delhi).
The two new bikes are being manufactured at UM-Lohia’s manufacturing plant at Kashipur in Uttarakhand. If you don’t remember, the Indian arm of UM Internation LLC, UM Motorcycles started its journey in the Indian market last year with the launch of Renegade Commando, Renegade Classic and Renegade Sport S. In 2015, they made a partnership with an Indian electric bike maker Lohia Auto. And since then, UM Lohia Two Wheelers (UML) have been running their business in the Indian two-wheeler market. With the two new offerings, the company has expanded its cruiser bike portfolio to four.

UM Renegade Commando Classic
The Renegade Commando Classic features high gloss metallic dual-tone paint job and receives lots of chrome garnishing, which measures more than 3,430 square inches of sparkling chrome in an area. The USA originated cruiser bike also comes equipped with a standard touring package, which includes a premium saddle bag and tank cover with a storage pouch, polycarbonate windshield, a pillion back rest and chrome finished engine guard, spoke wheels, a beefy fuel tank (18-litre), round rear-view mirrors and wide handlebars. Dimension wise, the bike measures 2,257mm in length, 1,350 mm in height and 780 mm in width and weighs 179 kg (kerb weight). The Commando Classic has a wheelbase of 1,545 mm and offers a minimum ground clearance of 200 mm. The Commando Classic will be available in the market in a glossy 2-tone metallic paint with a combination of Copper Cream & Candy Metallic Glossy Black.
Talking about its mechanical department, the Renegade Commando Classic is powered by a 279.5cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4 valves, EFI engine that generates 24.8 bhp of maximum power @ 8,500 rpm and 23 Nm of maximum torque @ 7,000 rpm. The liquid-cooled engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The Renegade Commando Classic sits on a 16-inch wire-spoke wheel at the front and 15-inch rims at the rear, which are shod with a 110/90 section tyre and 140/90 section tyre respectively. Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic forks up front and twin rear hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are performed by a single 280mm disc with 2-piston caliper at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear.
UM Renegade Mojave Edition
The all-new Renegade Commando Mojave draws its inspiration from the Mojave Desert, which is North America’s largest and driest desert. The Commando Mojave gets a unique desert coloured matte paint job, Mojave Desert logos and fuel tank cell phone pad. The new Command Mojave comes equipped with a matte black finished exhaust pipe, black finished engine guard, black rear-view mirrors, black wire-spoke wheels, saddle bag, back rest and crash guard. Dimensionally, the motorcycle measures 2,257mm in length, 1,140 mm in height and 780 mm in width and weighs 179 kg (kerb weight).
The Commando Mojave also has a wheelbase of 1,545 mm and offers a ground clearance of 200 mm. The Renegade Mojave edition is also powered by the same 279.5cc liquid cooled, single-cylinder engine that comes mated to a six-speed gear box. The other features and specifications of the Renegade Commando Mojave are same to same as we have seen on the Renegade Commando Classic. Both the bikes also feature electric start, service alert system and USB chargers.
In the Indian two-wheeler market, the UM Renegade Commando Classic will compete against the likes of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird range and Royal Enfield Classic Chrome, while the Renegade Commando Mojave is a rival to the Royal Enfield Classic Desert Storm in terms of design language.
