Actress Brie Larson

Academy Award winner for Room in the Best Actress category, Brie Larson has seen a successful phase in the last three years. Her acting prowess needs no explanation and has brought her both critical and commercial praise for delivering exceptional performances in various films. But there was a phase, earlier in her career when she didn’t feel herself to be ‘pretty enough’ to pursue lead roles in movies.

In a recent interview given to Porter magazine, the Free Fire actress revealed that she felt a lack of self-confidence during her early years.

“I just didn’t feel confident in myself, I didn’t feel pretty enough. I thought I’d be a supporting character my whole life and I was struggling with the idea of being the star,” she told.

She also opened up on sexism in Hollywood and said, “I’ve been on sets where I didn’t feel safe, I’ve felt objectified. But as I’m getting older I’m realizing that I can value myself, I’m allowed to.”

When asked about getting the biggest opportunity in her life so far, she said that Captain Marvel’s role made her excited and she is really looking forward to stepping into the shoes of the Marvel super-heroine, in 2019.

“I spent months thinking about whether or not I was going to do the film and I realized that it was a chance to tell a story on the largest scale possible. I know it is going to make me lose some of the things I love most about my life, but I think it’s worth it.”
