South Korean tech giant LG Electronics has expanded its K-series of smartphones portfolio with the launch of a new budget-oriented smartphone, called the “LG K7i” at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) event being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India. The new LG K7i is not only a smartphone but works as a mosquito repellent also. We all know that mosquitoes are the deadliest insects in the world as they spread life-threatening diseases including Dengue, Malaria, Yellow Fever and Zika. To protect human from insects, LG has launched its first smartphone with ‘Mosquito Away’ technology, which can be found on the rear panel of the device. The new device comes with an additional back cover bundled in the box that can be placed on the rear panel of the smartphone when required. The additional back cover features a speaker that generates ultrasonic sound waves to keep mosquitoes at bay. This uses 30KHz ultrasonic sound waves which are harmful to mosquitoes and completely harmless to humans.
Carried a price tag of Rs. 7,990, the new LG K7i is now already made available for purchase in India via all leading offline retail stores across the country in Brown colour variant.
Commenting on the launch of the LG K7i, Amit Gujral, Chief Marketing Officer, LG Electronics India, said, “LG has always been at the forefront of unique innovations. With this launch, LG is bringing the mosquito away technology closer to the consumers in the form of a mobile device which can be an integral part of their daily lives.”
As far as specifications are concerned, the LG K7i comes equipped with a 5-inch HD In-cell Touch display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a MicroSD card. Talking about its software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box.
For photography enthusiasts, the LG K7i features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for capturing selfies and making video calls. The rear camera is also capable of capturing burst shots with up to 10 continuous photos. On the other hand, the selfie camera features Gesture Interval shot, which allows users to take a selfie worry-free.
Connectivity options offered by the LG K7i include dual-SIM dual standby, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the device is backed up by a 2,500mAh battery that is rated to deliver a long-day worth battery life on a single charge. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 144.7 x 72.6 x 8.1mm and weighs around 138 grams.
