After announcing the Titanium Jumbo and A40 Indian 4G-enabled smartphone in India, home-grown handset manufacturer Karbonn Mobiles on Wednesday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a new budget and selfie-centric smartphone, called the “Karbonn K9 Smart Selfie” in the Indian tech market. Priced at Rs. 4,890, the new Karbonn K9 Smart Selfie will be made available for purchase in India starting today via all leading offline retail stores across the country in Black and Blue colour options with a matte finish. The key highlights of the smartphone are its 8-megapixel front-facing camera, Android 7.0 Nougat OS, 2.5D curved glass-protected display, and 4G VoLTE (voice over LTE) connectivity support.
Talking about its specifications, the Karbonn K9 Smart Selfie comes equipped with a 5-inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor (unspecified) coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front (OS), the smartphone runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the Karbonn K9 Smart Selfie features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash. On the front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The front-facing camera also supports Night shot mode and Beauty mode among others.
In terms of connectivity, this dual-SIM smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the device include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor. On the battery front, the Karbonn K9 Smart Selfie is fuelled by a 2,300mAh Li-ion battery that is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of talktime and up to 180 hours of standby time.
