She was born in the Command Hospital in the town of Udhampur, J&K. Her father was an officer in the Indian Army and her mother was a school teacher. Being an Army brat she travelled a lot before graduation, and got her law degree from Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies.
Her Kannada debut was on May 2016 with “U Turn” which premiered at the New York Film Festival and then subsequently released in India and worldwide. She also won the Filmfare Award for best Actress- Kannada and SIIMA Award for Best Actress-Kannada for the same.
