After launching the A1 Virat Kohli Signature Edition in India last month, now it seems like the Chinese smartphone maker Gionee is all set to launch the “Plus” variant of its popular Gionee A1 “Selfiestan” smartphone in the Indian market on July 14 (Friday). To recall, the Gionee A1 Plus and the standard Gionee A1 were first showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event in Barcelona. Among these two, Gionee A1 has already been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 19,999. However, the pricing details of the Gionee A1 Plus has not been revealed by the company yet but looking at the specifications we can expect the A1 Plus smartphone is likely to be to be priced somewhere in between the Rs 25,000 and Rs 28,000. The Gionee A1 Plus comes in Mocha Gold and Gray colour variants.
Talking about its specifications, Gionee A1 Plus sports a 6-inch full HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass coating on top. The device is powered by a 2.5GHz Mediatek MT6757T Helio P25 octa-core processor paired with Mali-T880MP2 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone is backed up by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee A1 Plus runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
In terms of photography, the Gionee A1 Plus houses a dual camera setup on the rear along with a LED flash. One camera sports a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, while the other camera comes equipped with a 5-megapixel sensor. The rear camera features include phase detection autofocus (PDAF), 1/3-inch sensor size, 5P lens and full-HD (1080p) video recording support. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and soft LED flash for capturing bright selfies and making video calls even in low lit conditions.
The Gionee A1 Plus is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano SIM + Nano SIM. Besides this, the smartphone supports various connectivity options including 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (a/b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port for fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Gionee A1 Plus comes packed with a high-density 4,550mAh non-removable battery with 18W ultra-fast charging power adapter support for fast charging. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted) and Gyroscope sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1 mm and weighs 226 grams.
