Soon after launching the “Q” series of mid-range smartphones in Poland, now it seems like the South Korean electronics giant LG is all set to announce its next flagship “V series” smartphone, the LG V30 on August 31 at the IFA 2017 event in Berlin. The company has already started sending out “save the date” media invites for an upcoming smartphone launch event, which is scheduled to take place at 9:00 AM CST (12:30 PM IST) on Thursday, August 31 in the land of Berlin, Germany. The media invite shows a silhouette image of the smartphone, company logo, scheduled launch date and time with a bold line “save the date.” If you take a look at the provided teaser image, you will get to see the letter ‘V’, which is highlighted in the display background of the smartphone.
Though the press invite doesn’t reveal any clear information about the upcoming LG smartphones or which specific smartphone will launch at the event, it is likely to be the LG’s next-generation flagship LG V30 smartphone.
However, there are many leaks and rumours about the LG V30 have been surfaced on the various website from the last couple of months. LG V30 has been subjected to multiple leaks ahead of the launch which does reveal a gist of specifications and features about the premium device. If the rumours and leaks are to be believed, the LG V30 would see a significant overhaul in terms of specifications and arrive with a host of improvements.
As per the MySmartPrice and tipster OnLeaks reports, the LG V30 sports a sleek metal unibody design with very thin bezels. There is no physical Home button and navigation buttons on the front panel. The volume rockers are placed on the left-hand edge, while the power/lock button is situated on the right-hand edge of the smartphone. A 3.5mm audio socket is placed at the very top edge of the device, while the speaker grille is seen at the bottom edge of the handset along with a USB Type-C charging port sitting in the middle.
Interestingly, the LG V30 doesn’t sport a secondary display as the LG V series is known for its secondary display, which we have seen on the company’s V20 and V10. The secondary display offers a quick way to show notifications, email alerts including upcoming events, weather forecasts or customised notifications. However, it seems like that the LG V30 will ditch the company’s signature secondary display in favour of a bezel-less FullVision display with 18: 9 aspect ratio, similar to the LG G6. Another report suggests that the South Korean company can launch the LG V30 with OLED display.
The LG V30 will have a massive 6-inch QHD+ display with a screen resolution of 2880×1440 pixels. The device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 quad-core processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone is tipped to offer 64GB or 128GB of internal storage as well. There is a possibility that the device may come in two variants, one with 4GB and another with 6GB RAM.
In terms of photography, the LG V30 is expected to sport a dual camera setup at the back and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well. The LG V30 will come with IP68 water and dust resistance rating and a glass back that means the device will support wireless charging. For connectivity, the LG V30 will feature a USB Type-C port. Connectivity options also include 4G LTE. The device will come loaded with a 3,200mAh non-removable battery with fast-charging support.
