To recall, HMD Global launched its latest Nokia-branded Android smartphones in India in the month of June at an event in New Delhi, which includes one mid-range Android smartphone, “Nokia 6” along with two lower mid-range smartphones namely Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. At the time of launch, the company announced that the new Nokia 5 Android smartphone will be up for pre-order starting July 7 and the same will go for first sale on August 15 exclusively via all leading offline retail stores across the country.  And we’re almost at the doorstep of time as the company has started shipping units of its Nokia 5 smartphone to the retailers from today, while the smartphone will be made available for purchase in India starting tomorrow (August 15, Tuesday) via select retail outlets in more than 10 cities across the country. The Nokia 5 is priced at Rs 12,899 and will be available in four body colour options including Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper. Note that, at the time of its first sale, the Nokia 5 will be available in Matte Black shade only, while other shades will be available in the coming weeks.

Among these three Nokia smartphones, Nokia 3 is the cheapest Android-powered smartphone by HMD Global, which comes in India with a price tag of Rs. 9,499. The Nokia 3 is now already made available for purchase in India via the online platforms and offline retail stores across the country. The Nokia 6 has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 14,999. The pre-booking services for the Nokia 6 smartphone have already begun on Amazon India from July 14 and the device will go for first flash sale on August 23 on the same e-commerce website. Note that, only registered customers are eligible for the first flash sale.

As per the report of Nokiapoweruser, the Nokia 5 will be available only in select cities including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Calicut, Bhubaneshwar and Bhopal via all leading offline retailers who will stock Nokia 5 in their retail stores. The offline retail stores include Sangeetha Mobiles, Poorvika in Chennai & other cities, Big C in Hyderabad and Croma. Other cities will be added gradually. The company also opened its Nokia customer care service point for the new Android-powered Nokia smartphones. Under the Nokia Care, the owners of Nokia smartphones can avail pickup and drop facilities in over 100 cities.

As a part of an introductory offer, Vodafone customers will get 5GB mobile data per month at Rs. 149 per month for 3 months on purchase of Nokia 5. In addition, there is also an offer from MakeMyTrip travel website, where Nokia 5 buyers will get Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 2500 (Rs. 1800 off on hotels & Rs.700 off on domestic flights).

Nokia 5 Specifications & Features:

In terms of specifications, the Nokia 5 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Nokia 5 is backed up by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

Design wise, the Nokia 5 also sports a seamless aluminium 6000 series body and a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, that is housed underneath the physical home button of the device. Talking about its software front, the Nokia 5 runs on Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. In terms of optics, the Nokia 5 features a 13-megapixel rear sensor with 1.12-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view lens and autofocus for capturing selfies and making a video call. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. The Nokia 5 comes packed with a decent 3,000mAh non-removable battery and measures at 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05mm.
