After grabbing over 72 million Jio Prime (paid) subscribers within just a month, Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio has extended the deadline, for subscribing to its Jio Prime membership plan as well as Rs 303 and other plans till April 15. The move comes as the Reliance wants to give its customers breathing time for smooth and normal transition between its free and paid services. Apart from the announcement for 15 days’ extension of Jio Prime deadline, the company also announced its another complimentary ‘Jio Summer Surprise’ offer for existing Prime users. ‘Jio Summer Surprise Offer’, which adds three more months of free unlimited 4G data, voice calls, SMS and other services to those subscribed to Jio Prime.

“This is the largest migration from free to paid services in history in such a short period of time. Considering the unprecedented demand for enrolling to JIO PRIME and doing the first recharge, Jio has extended the deadline for purchasing Jio’s Rs 303 (and other) plans till April 15,” Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani said on Friday in a press release.

What is Jio ‘Summer Surprise’ offer?

Jio Summer Surprise offer is only valid for Jio Prime subscribers. Jio Summer surprise offer will only be given when you make your first recharge (subscribe to Jio prime) before 15th April 2017. Jio Prime members will have to recharge their number with minimum amount, Rs 303. Subscribers can also choose option for any higher amount plan as well. On doing so, subscribers will get the benefits of Jio’s free services for the initial 3 months on a complimentary basis. The free offer will be valid up to June 2017. The Jio Summer Surprise is the first of many surprises for JIO Prime members,” said Jio.

What will you get for the Rs 303 Jio Prime offer?

The Reliance Jio Rs 303 Prime plan offers unlimited free voice calls, free unlimited SMS and unlimited data, which is valid for 28 days. With the recharge of Rs. 303, users get unlimited mobile data (with a 1 GB of high speed data per day, totalling 28 GB of high speed data a month) for free, 100 SMSs per day, as well as free access to the Jio suite of apps, such as Jio Cinema and Jio Music. Post the 1 GB limit, users will still get data at 128 Kbps and will have access to unlimited high speed data in the night.

How to be a Jio Prime member? And how to get Jio ‘Summer Surprise’ offer?

If you want to be a Jio prime member, you will have to recharge your jio number with Rs 99 (Jio Prime membership) before March 31 from MyJio app, JioMoney, Jio.com or any of the nearest Jio’s offline store. Note that to be a Jio Prime member, you will have to sign up now before April 15. To get Jio’s free services (Summer Surprise offer) for three more months (April, May and June), users will have to become a Jio Prime member first and then recharge with Rs 303 plan or more. Can I get ‘Summer Surprise’ offer without “Prime membership”?

No. To avail the benefits of the ‘Summer Surprise’ offer, you will have to register your number in to the Jio Prime plan. And then with the Jio prime plan you will have to do an additional recharge of Rs 303 or more.

What to do if the Rs 303-data plan with 1 GB daily FUP is not enough?

After the recharge of Rs 303-data plan, you will get the benefits of the Rs. 303 recharge for the period of its validity. And if you think 1GB free daily data on 4G speeds is not good enough, you can also choose another option for the Rs 499 Jio Prime plan, which offers a 2GB daily FUP (Fair usage policy) on 4G speeds for 28 days. Users can also choose other option for the Rs 999 Jio Prime Plan, which offers 60GB 4G data with 60 days’ validity without any FUP.

There are other plans for a Rs 1,999 you get 90 days, Rs 4,999 you get 180 days, and Rs 9,999 you get 360 days validity and 125GB, 350GB, and 750GB data respectively without any FUP. In case, you are using a Jio Prime plan without FUP and run out of data midway, you can always recharge for booster packs ranging between Rs 11 and Rs 301 with 0.1GB to 10GB data.

What is the difference between the Jio Non-Prime and Jio Prime plan?

For mobile internet users, Jio Prime users get almost double the data (in terms of GB) benefits compared to non-Jio Prime members.

However, Jio’s free service offers will come to an end after April 15. Jio users who don’t recharge by the extended date of April 15 will experience degradation and/or discontinuation of services, according to the company.

Ambani added that the company plans to investing over Rs 200,000 crores, to add another 100,000 towers to their network in the coming months. This greenfield investment is the largest anywhere in the world.”
