South Korean tech giant Samsung on Friday launched its another newest Tizen-powered smartphone, the Samsung Z4. This is the fourth edition smartphone in Samsung Z series after Samsung Z1, Z2 and Z3, which runs on Samsung’s own Tizen 3.0 operating system. The first Samsung Tizen-powered smartphone was the Samsung Z, then the Samsung Z1, which was unveiled in January 2015. Next, the Samsung Z3, released in October 2015 and after that we got the Samsung Z2, which was launched in August last year at a price of Rs 4,590.

The Samsung Z4 smartphone will be announced in select markets across the world, starting with India in May. The Tizen OS powered device will be made available in Black, Gold, and Silver colour variants depending on the market. For now, Samsung has not explained the exact release date and pricing details on the Samsung Z4 smartphone. Samsung Z4 will also be showcased at the Tizen Developer Conference in San Francisco, California May 16 to May 17, 2017.

“Beginning in May, the Samsung Z4 will launch in select countries, starting in India and will be available in black, gold and silver depending on the market,” the company said in a press statement.

Samsung Z4 specifications and features: –

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Z4 sports a bright 4.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor (unspecified chipset) coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory storage, which is further expandable by up to 128GB via a micro-SD card. On the software front, the device runs on Samsung’s own Tizen 3.0 operating system out of the box.

The main USP (unique selling point) of the Samsung’s new Z series member is its camera department. In terms of photography, the Samsung Z4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash. On the front side, the handset features a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash for capturing bright selfies and video calling. Samsung claims that both cameras on Samsung Z4 are “optimised for social media” and offer a wide range of features focused on convenience and productivity, including quick and easy access to the most frequently used functions. The convenient features include Quick Torch, Quick Talk, Quick Launch of the camera or Quick Switch without returning to the home screen.

In terms of connectivity, like the Samsung phones, the Samsung Z4 offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, VoWiFi, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, a 3.5mm Audio port, and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. The Samsung Z4 has Samsung’s proprietary Ultra Power Saving mode and also comes with S Bike mode. The smartphone is backed by a 2050 mAh battery that claims to deliver up to 8 hours of 4G browsing. The Samsung Z4 measures at 132.9 x 69.2 x 10.3mm and weighs 143 grams.

“The Samsung Z4 brings a simplified mobile experience to first time smartphone users and represents our ongoing commitment to expanding the Tizen ecosystem,” DJ Koh, president of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, was quoted as saying in the company’s release.
