He’s no doubt one of the biggest superstars on the planet and is attached to several blockbuster projects for the next couple of years. Tom Cruise, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film The Mummy as part of the Universal Studios’ Dark Universe franchise revealed that the sequel to the smash hit 1986 action film Top Gun is indeed a go and that a title has been locked.
“Aviators are back,” is what Tom said before revealing the title would be Top Gun: Maverick and not Top Gun 2 as many were believing up until this point. Although the production date is yet to be announced along with the cast and crew details, the film will officially flag off next year.
Tom Cruise has a busy schedule up ahead as his The Mummy hits worldwide on June 9 followed by the biographical criminal drama-thriller film American Made, Mission: Impossible 6, and Live Die Repeat and Repeat; the sequel to the 2014 blockbuster sci-fi action film Edge of Tomorrow.
