Union sports minister Vijay Goel on Sunday stated that the cricket for blind in India has full support from the government.
The second world T-20 cricket for Blind Championship has been organised by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI). He said at the inauguration that the government will provide financial aid to the sport if they get a suggestion from CABI.
Vijay Goel said that the government always has a positive mindset towards Cricket for blind and on the eve of Republic Day Shekhar Naik, a blind cricketer, was honored with Padma Shri.
He also added by saying The T-20 world cup in India itself explains how the government welcomes and gives equal opportunities to everyone in this country to prove their talent.
He wished the 10 nations who would be taking part in this tournament. Besides India, teams from Pakistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Nepal, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies will be there. The sports minister said one day cricket for blind will be professionally recognized and will attract more help and support.
India is the defending Champion of T-20 world cup 2012 and will take over Bangladesh on 30 January in Delhi.
