After the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 4A in India, now the company is gearing to launch an another Redmi smartphone in the Indian tech market. Xiaomi India VP Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to tease an upcoming Redmi phone launch in India. The Tweet states the announcement of an upcoming Redmi series phone, citing it as the second biggest announcement of this month along with an image that has the caption “Power in your hand”.
“Announcing the launch of a new Redmi phone! This will be the 2nd BIG announcement of the month Coming soon. Stay tuned #PowerInYourHand,” he wrote in a tweet.

Earlier this week, the VP of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain tweeted on the same Twitter page that Xiaomi is all set to come up with three big announcements for this month in the country (India). Along with this second big announcement of the month, the company is ready to launch its Mi Home Store in Bengaluru and the same is to happen on Thursday (May 11), as we already know that was the first big announcement of the month. Mi Home Store will be exclusive retail outlet that will showcase company’s products like power banks, phone accessories, headphones, Air purifier, smart watches as well as the range of Redmi and Mi devices being sold.
Though the tweet reveals, there is no clear information about the upcoming Xiaomi phone or which big announcement will reveal in India, but it is likely to be the successor to Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime which is the Redmi 4 and the Redmi 4 Prime. Previously, Manu Kumar Jain had confirmed that successor to Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime is coming soon. And in March, Xiaomi had confirmed that it would launch successors to the Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime in India. Xiaomi had launched the budget smartphones, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime in China in November last year. The Redmi 4 was launched at a price of CNY 699, while the Redmi 4 Prime was priced at CNY 899. So we expect the Redmi 4 to be launched in India with the price range of Rs 7,500 to Rs 8,500.

In terms of specifications, Redmi 4 (China) sports a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass on the top for protection. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. In terms of memory, the phone is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion by up to 256GB. In terms of photography, the Redmi 4 houses a 13-megapixel main snapper with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash. Talking about its front, the phone has a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies and video chats. The Redmi 4 is fuelled by a 4100mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 skin running on the top. Connectivity option on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Dual-SIM support and Bluetooth v4.2 connectivity.

In comparison, the Redmi 4 Prime sports a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass on the top. Redmi 4 Prime is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of memory, the device is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion by up to 256GB. In terms of photography, the Redmi 4 Prime boasts of a 13MP main snapper with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture lens and dual LED flash. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats and selfies. On the software front, the Redmi 4 Prime runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under company’s MIUI 8 skin and is fuelled by a non-removable 4100mAh Li-Polymer battery.
