After suffering from cardiac arrest, veteran actress Reema Lagoo passed away early morning on Thursday. She was just 59-years-old. On Wednesday night, the actress complained of chest pain and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Andheri, Mumbai where she breathed her last.

The actress began her career in Hindi and Marathi movies in the late 1970s and early 80s.  She was well-known for the roles playing the on-screen mother to protagonists in hit films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’. Reema also had wonderful work on television in popular shows like ‘Tu Tu Main Main’ and ‘Shriman Shrimati’.

When contacted, Lagoo’s son-in-law Vinay Waikul, he confirmed the news to Times of India and said, “She was absolutely fine but around 1 am she complained to us of chest pain so we took her to the hospital. However, around 3:15 am she passed away due to a cardiac arrest.”

The actress was married to Marathi actor Vivek Lagoo and the couple had a daughter Mrunmayee Lagoo. However, the couple later parted their ways.
