After a series of many posted teaser images on social media, Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan on Friday finally launched its 2017 edition “Nissan Micra” in the Indian auto market at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 2017 Micra comes equipped with host of class-leading smart features as well as cosmetic changes. The new features on 2017 Micra include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and ‘lead me to car’. Frankly speaking, the 2017 Nissan Micra is not the new generation Micra which is now on sale in international auto markets, but this an upgraded version of the fourth-generation Micra.
Commenting on the launch, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The New Micra brings together Japanese technology and European styling in a package that makes it one of the best premium urban hatchbacks at an attractive price point. The new features enhance the visual appeal and convenience of the Micra, and provides an excellent driving experience. The New Micra will add a dash of liveliness to the driving experience for our customers.”
The 2017 Nissan Micra has been launched in India in 6 variants with an option of 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine versions. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is mated to X-Tronic CVT Automatic transmission, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Carried at such an attractive price tag, the 2017 Nissan Micra becomes the most affordable premium hatchback with X-Tronic CVT unit in the segment. The new Micra will compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Tiago and others in this segment.
The 2017 Nissan Micra range is available in seven exciting body colour options — Storm White, Turquoise Blue, Blade Silver, Brick Red, Sunshine Orange, Onyx Black and Nightshade. Further, the company has also announced the extended warranty with the updated version of Nissan Micra to make a good relationship with its customers. The owners of the 2017 Nissan Micra can avail the extended warranty package for 3 Years / 50,000 kms.
As we discussed, the 2017 Nissan Micra is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants. In terms of performance, the new Micra hatchback is powered by the same (standard model) a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates 73 bhp of peak power against the peak torque of 104 Nm. Coming to the diesel variant, it is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 64 bhp of max power and 160 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is mated to a CVT X-Tronic automatic transmission, while the diesel engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission setup. The new Nissan Micra 2017 is claimed to return a mileage of 19.34 kmpl for petrol variant and 23.08 kmpl for diesel variant.
Talking about its exterior, the 2017 Micra comes equipped with a chrome finish front grille, sportier bumper, 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, LED tail lamps.
Inside the cabin, the 2017 Micra gets an all-black theme dashboard with premium piano-black finish. Other interior features on the car include orange accents on seats, 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB connectivity, steering mounted control panels, start/stop push button with i-key.
In terms of safety, the new Nissan Micra 2017 comes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), driver airbag (standard model), driver and passenger Airbags (XV model), Brake Assist, and Speed Sensing Door Locks.
