India’s boxing star Vijender Singh is going to defend his title on Dec.17 in New Delhi. Earlier this year he defeated Kerry Hope and won the Boxing Organisation Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Championship.

Unbeaten in his seven bouts, the Olympic medalist reached the 10th position in the Boxing Organization rankings earlier this year. The 30-year-old will be defending his title against a yet to be decided opponent.

The confident Vijender said , “I have been in Manchester, UK for the last two months, training hard for my next fight. My trainer has been giving me high intensity training sessions, which has made my punches more powerful than before. I am ready to fight anybody as suggested by the World Boxing Organisation. I am confident that I will be able to defend my title with as much pride as I won it. I am looking forward to 17 December 2016 and hope to repeat history,” reports The Times of India.

His title match earlier brought Rahul Gandhi, Mary Kom, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina and Randeep Hooda to the occasion. Neerav Tomar, the promoter of Vijender, believes the upcoming event will be bigger than this. He further said, ” After the fantastic response from the last fight, we are going to be back with more power and more action this winter. We are hoping for a bigger and better event. I am confident that Vijender will put up an excellent show and will defend his title. ”

As per Vijender’s U.K.- based promoters, Queensberry Promotions Francis Warren, world’s top boxers are being considered to fight against Vijender, including the winners of the Dunn-Cameron fight, Abraham-Krasniqi and Groves-Gutenech. They added that the boxer’s career has been very perfect and he is very committed and professional in his approach.

His next step will be to focus on counting among the world’s top ten fighters and progress through the rankings.
