Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father, Krishnaraj Rai passed away this Saturday at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital while battling a prolonged illness of cancer. Aishwarya had been taking care of her dad and is coming to terms with this irrepairable loss. In the memory of her beloved father, Aishwarya held a prayer meet and Bollywood celebrities came in to offer their support and condolences to Aishwarya and the Bachchans.
The prayer meet was held on Tuesday, and witnessed many close friends of Aishwarya from the film fraternity who came by to share her sorrow during her difficult time. Abhishek, Amitabh, Jaya, Shweta and daughter Aaradhya were present at the meet along with Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda.
Celebrities like Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, Neetu Kapoor, David Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Jackky Bhagnani and Anupam Kher were present to pay their condolences. A number of close friends including Twinkle Khanna and mother Dimple Kapadia, Vidya Balan with husband Siddharth Roy Kapur and brother-in-law Aditya Roy Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and wife Sridevi also came to support the family in grief.
Amitabh Bachchan was grief stricken by this news and had even written a heartfelt message stating, “Death has but one end- and words cannot define it”. He also took to twitter to thank everyone who extended their support during distress.
Krishnaraj Rai is survived by his wife Vrinda Rai, son Aditya Rai and daughter Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. We hope Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her family may overcome this immense void in their lives.
