Real Madrid came back twice from behind to beat Sporting Gijon 3-2 at El Molinon stadium, Gijon in La Liga. Playing with a much changed team line-up, players included for the trip did not disappoint on being given the opportunity. Isco scored two goals, the second coming in 90th minute to earn all three points for his team.

Gijon soared ahead in the 14th minute through a Duje Čop goal. Isco drew his side level in 17th minute by beating two defenders en route to a delightful left-footed goal. Sporting again took back the lead through Vesga in the 50th minute. Madrid came back from behind for the second time to draw level through Alvaro Morata’s headed goal in 59th minute. Isco showcased his dribbling skills in the 71st minute when he picked the ball at the centre-line and swirled through the Gijon defence, flooring the defenders on the way before Jorge Meré’s defensive attempt prevented him from making an attempt on the goal. Isco then scored his second and his team’s third goal through a long-range effort to seal a 3-2 victory for Madrid in the final minute of regulation time.

Barcelona stayed firm behind Real Madrid in the title race by winning 3-2 against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou. Lionel Messi scored a brace for the Catalonia side while much criticised Paco Alcacer scored the third goal.

Atletico win big against Osasuna despite missed penalties

Atletico stayed on course for a third place finish by winning 3-0 against struggling Osasuna. Yannick Carrasco scored a brace while Felipe Luis added a third goal for Atletico Madrid. Atletico had two penalties saved, Salvatore Sirigu making two saves in two minutes.

Other results of the day included Athletic Bilbao thumping Las Palmas 5-1 and Deportivo winning 2-0 against Malaga.

Real Madrid still lead FC Barcelona by three points with one match in hand. In battle for third place, Atletico Madrid lead Sevilla by five points while having played a game more.

Valencia face-off against Sevilla on Sunday evening in week 32 of the La Liga.
