Domestic handset manufacturer Intex Technologies on Tuesday updated its Aqua series catalogue by launching a new smartphone called, the Aqua A4 in India. Being a cheapest smartphone, the Aqua A4 supports 4G VoLTE and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Intex Aqua A4 is priced at Rs. 4,199, and will be made available in Black colour variant across the all major retail stores in the country.
The Intex Aqua A4 was announced on Tuesday at an event in the presence of Gujarat Lions IPL cricket team, where they called, Intex Aqua A4 as “the lowest priced Android 7.0 Nougat powered smartphone in the market.” Talking about its design, Intex Aqua A4 houses three capacitive navigation buttons at the bottom edge of the display. On the backside, the phone bears a loudspeaker grille and its ribbed back casing looks to give user a strong grip.

In terms of specifications, the Intex Aqua A4 sports a 4-inch WVGA display with a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC9832 processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard internal storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card. On the software front, the Intex Aqua A4 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and supports dual-SIM slots.
In terms of photography, the Intex Aqua A4 sports a 5-megapixel primary camera with fixed focus and support for screen flash. At the front, there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calling as well.
For connectivity, the Intex Aqua A4 comes with dual SIM dual standby connectivity option. Connectivity options on the device also include 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS /AGPS, FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the phone include G sensor and Smart Gesture. The device is fuelled by a 1750 mAh battery which company claims the battery is rated to offer up to 4-6 hours of usage time and 250 hours of standby time. The phone measures at 125 x 64 x 11.2 mm and weighs about 119.5 grams.
Apart from these specifications, the device comes with preloaded innovative VAS services for users such as QR code reader (a QR code scanner app), Xender (a file transfer application), Gaana (popular music streaming app) and News Point. QR code reader, which scans a QR code and shows relevant information automatically. As said earlier, the main highlight of the Intex Aqua A4 is the presence of Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Android 7.0 Nougat introduces notable changes to the OS (operating system) and its development platform. So all the latest features of the OS are present in the device such as split-screen multitasking, “Doze” power-saving mode, quick app switcher etc.
