Huawei’s sub-brand Honor on Thursday launched the lite version of company’s popular Honor 8 smartphone. The Honor 8 Lite was unveiled in February this year in a press event in China. The new Honor lite version has been priced at Rs 17,999 and will be available across all Honor partner mobile stores near you starting 12th May. The smartphone has been launched in India in Premium Black and Blue colour options. Note, its Premium Black colour variant will be available from Friday in the country, while the Blue colour variant will be made available later of this month.
In terms of design, the mid-range Honor 8 Lite looks very similar to its younger sibling the Honor 8. It sports a 2.5D curved-edge glass on both front and back with a metal frame all around giving it an overall premium look. The smartphone also sports metal edges and onscreen navigation buttons. The phone also features a 12-megapixel rear camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, located just middle of the device, the company claims to unlock the phone in just 0.03 seconds. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock buttons are placed on the right-hand edge of the device and a 3.5mm audio socket is placed on the very top of the phone. And dual speaker grilles are seen at the bottom edge of the device with a microUSB port sitting in the middle. The company has brought the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the smartphone to India.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 8 Lite sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass protection. The device is powered by an octa core ((2.1 GHz + 1.7 GHz) Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 655 CPU coupled with 4GB RAM and ARM Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The smartphone comes with 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the device runs company’s own custom EMUI 5.0 Lite, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
In terms of photography, the Honor 8 Lite features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 77-degree wide angle lens. The camera features also include 1.25µm Pixel Size Sensor, Digital Zoom, Continuous Shooting, Panorama, HDR, Geotagging, Face Detection, White balance setting, Touch Focus, Manual ISO settings, Exposure Compensation, Scene Mode, and PDAF.
In terms of connectivity, this dual SIM smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Sensors onboard the smartphone include Accelerator, Proximity sensor, Gyro Sensor and Geomagnetic Sensor. The Honor 8 Lite comes packed with a powerful 3000mAh Li-Polymer non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 21 hours of talk time and up to 627 hours of standby time on a 3G network. The handset measures 147.2 x 72.94 x 7.6 mm and weighs 147 grams.
