South Korean tech giant Samsung on Monday officially unveiled the “Galaxy J3 (2017)” smartphone, the latest addition to its Galaxy J-Series of entry-level smartphone. The new smartphone has now gone official in the Unites States. Launched with country’s (US) mobile service provider, AT&T, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is priced at $179.99 (approximately Rs. 11,545), and will be available online as well as via AT&T mobile operator and in select retail stores. Another variant of the Samsung J3 (2017) smartphone, which is dubbed as the Galaxy J3 Emerge has already been on sale in the US since earlier this year via US mobile service provider, Sprint.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) sports a 5-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixel and a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos 7 7570 SoC (System-On-Chip), coupled with Mali-T720 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the phone is backed by a 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. Talking about its software fronts, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) runs Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box with Samsung’s proprietary custom skin running on top.

In terms of photography, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) comes with a single-lens 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture and 1080p video recording at 30fps. Talking about its selfie camera, Galaxy J3 (2017) comes with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for video calling and capturing selfies. Samsung is touting a Beauty Effect in Selfie mode.

On the connectivity front, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) supports 4G with LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Glonass, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensor on the device include Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Proximity sensor. Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) is fuelled by a 2600mAh battery, that is rated to offer up to 23 hours of talk time, and up to 17 days of standby time. The device measures at 140.97 x 70.1 x 8.64 mm and weighs about 148 grams.
