Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi recently launched its Mi Home official store and Redmi 4 smartphone in India. Now, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain’s tweets appear to hint at the upcoming launch. The tweet seems to suggest that the company is planning to announce an another big launch in the country in July. Jain wrote in his tweet- “23 Jan: 250K+ #RedmiNote4. 23 Mar: 250K+ #Redmi4A. 23 May: 250K+ #Redmi4?? Any suggestions on what we should do on 23rd July? @XiaomiIndia”.
On his official twitter page, he tweeted that Xiaomi sold 250,000 units of the Redmi Note 4 on January 23 in its first flash sale, 250,000 units of the Redmi 4A were sold on March 23 in its first flash sale, and 250,000 units of the Redmi 4 were sold on May 23 in its first flash sale. And then Manu Jain leaves an open question of what they should do on July 23.

Xiaomi India chief did not reveal any name of the smartphone that will be launched in the country, but we can expect it could be the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (China) or the flagship smartphone Mi 6. To recall, the Mi Max was launched in India in July last year, so the timeframe matches as well. On the other hand, Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone Mi 6, which was launched in China last month. Also, Xiaomi launched the predecessor Mi 5 in India in April 2016, so its successor is now in the company’s launch list.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been launched in China in two variants – Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage version, and Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage version. As for pricing, Mi Max 2 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant is priced at CNY 1699 (approx. Rs. 16,000) and 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant which will cost you CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs. 19,000). In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi 6 was launched in China in last month with the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM priced at CNY 2,499 (approx. Rs. 23,500), while the 6GB RAM model with 128GB storage variant was priced at CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs. 27,000). There is also a Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic Edition, which has been launched in China at a price tag of CNY 2,999 (approx. Rs. 28,000) and comes with 6GB RAM.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 sports a 6.4-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, Mi Max 2 is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. Talking about its software fronts, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. The phablet also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
In the terms of photography, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 rear sensor with an f/2.2 aperture ,1.25-micron pixels, Dual LED flashlight, PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) support. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 85-degree wide-angle lens for better group selfie and video calling. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also features an IR Blaster (infrared sensor) that can be used as a universal remote to control third-party electronics & appliances like set-top boxes, audio consoles, TVs, fans, air conditioners or DVD players.
In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers various connectivity options including 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi, WiFi hotspot, GPS/AGPS/Glonass, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm Audio port, IR blaster, USB OTG, and a USB Type-C port for superfast charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and E-Compass and Gyroscope sensor. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is fuelled by a massive 5300mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to two days of battery life. The battery supports Qualcomm’s Quick charge 3.0 which can charge the device up to 68% within 1 hour. The handset measures 174.1 x 88.7 x 7.6mm and weighs 211 grams.

As for Xiaomi Mi 6, the device features a 5.15-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Xiaomi Mi 6 has an integrated blue light filter to adjust blue light emission to reduce eye strain. The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a four-sided 3D curved glass design on the front and back with stainless steel frame in between. The device is powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz (10nm process technology) paired with Adreno 540 GPU to handle the graphics. The device is backed by 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of internal storage. On the software front, Xiaomi Mi 6 runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s own MIUI 8 custom skin running on top of the device. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also a splash-resistant phone and sports a fingerprint scanner for biometric security, which embedded just under the Home Button.
