Japanese automotive manufacturer Mitsubishi on Monday silently launched a new variant of its popular Pajero SUV, dubbed as Pajero Sport Select Plus in the Indian auto market. The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Select Plus comes in two variants- 4×2 automatic version and 4×4 manual version. The Pajero Sport Select Plus has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 30.53 lakh for its automatic 4×2 variant while the top-end 4×4 variant is priced at Rs 30.95 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Mumbai).

Launched in four colour combinations, the new Pajero Sport Select Plus comes with more dynamic SUV-like styling with a number of cosmetic and additional equipment changes in exterior as well as interiors of the vehicle. But the engine configurations of the car remain unchanged. The new Select Plus SUV is now available in Black and White, Black and Red, Balck and Yellow and Black and Silver colour combinations.

The updates on the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Select Plus are mainly its cosmetic. On the exterior, it comes with dual-tone exterior colours, but unlike the standard dual-tone SUV model, the Select Plus gets a black roof and black pillars. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Select Plus also features an all-black front radiator grille, 17-inch black finished alloy wheels, chrome finished door handles and wing mirrors, and black-finished body mouldings such as the door mouldings, front bumper guard and wheel-arch extensions. Talking about its additional equipment, the new Select Plus SUV comes equipped with LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, front fog lamps, electric folding ORVMs, and sportier wheel arches.

Coming to the interiors, the new variant of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV gets Illuminated Scuff Plates, cruise control, DVD players mounted in the front seat’s headrests, a chiller box, sporty beige leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual auto air conditioner, and multi-way power adjustable driver seat. Other features inside the cabin include 6-speaker infotainment system with navigation, steering mounted controls, and rear parking camera with display.

Talking about its mechanical department, the new Pajero Sport Select Plus is powered by the same (standard model) 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 178 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,800 rpm and 3,500 rpm. The 4×2 configuration or two-wheel drive system of the Select Plus SUV comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, while the 4×4 trim or All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system is mated to five-speed manual transmission. With the manual transmission, the 7-seater SUV produces 400 Nm of torque (automatic gearbox produces 350 Nm of torque). Dimensionally, the Pajero Sport Select Plus measures 4,695mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,840mm in height, 2800mm wheelbase and offers a ground clearance of 215 mm.

In terms of safety, the new Pajero Sport Select Plus comes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), Hydraulic Brake Booster, Collapsible Steering Column, SRS airbags (driver and passenger), 3-point ELR Seat Belt, Anti-intrusion Brake Pedal, and Crash Detection Door Lock System Shutdown.
