They both are heavyweights in south Indian cinema and have established a tremendous fan following for each other over the years. Actors Vijay and Vikram, as many will know by now are close friends in real life too and share a wonderful rapport with each other.

Despite their professional rivalry, the bond the two stars remains one of the most healthiest the Indian film industry has ever seen. Both Vijay and Vikram’s films have clashed four times previously at the box office when Tamizhan and Gemini battled it out during the Tamil New Year in 2002 followed by Puthiya Geethai and Kadhal Sadugudu at the Tamil New Year in 2003, Thirumalai and Pithamagan in Diwali 2004 and finally, Sivakasi and Maja on Diwali in 2005.

Now, it looks like the two stars will once again go head-to-head against as each of their films are fast approaching completion. Vijay with his Mersal under Atlee’s direction is one of the most exciting films coming out this year followed by Vikram with Tamannaah in Sketch is also a much-awaited film for the actor’s fans after his blockbuster Iru Mugan last year.

Although Mersal had been announced to be hitting screens this Diwali a while back, neither Sketch nor Vikram’s another highly anticipated film, Dhruva Natchathiram, have solid release dates.

Despite Vikram being currently busy with Dhruva Natchathiram, he has completed a chunk of shooting for Sketch and it looks like the action entertainer will most likely will make it to screens first this Diwali. However, an official word is now awaited to confirm that a ‘Thalapathy’ and ‘Chiyaan’ box office clash will once again take place after almost a decade.
