After launching the A1 Virat Kohli Signature Edition in India last month, Chinese smartphone maker Gionee on Tuesday a “Plus” variant of its popular Gionee A1 “Selfiestan” smartphone in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs. 26,999. To recall, the Gionee A1 Plus and the standard Gionee A1 were first showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event in Barcelona. Among these two, Gionee A1 has already been launched in the country with a price tag of Rs. 19,999. Carried a such an attractive price tag, the new Gionee A1 Plus will be made available for purchase in India starting July 26 (Wednesday) via all leading offline retail stores across the country in Mocha Gold and Grey colour variants. As of now, the company has made no official announcements about the Gionee A1 Plus smartphone’s online availability but as expected it will become available to purchase via online platforms at a later date. The key highlights of the Gionee A1 Plus are its heavy-duty 4,550mAh battery and the dual rear camera setup.
Talking about its specifications, Gionee A1 Plus comes equipped with a 6-inch full HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass coating on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.6GHz Mediatek Helio P25 octa-core processor paired with Mali-T880MP2 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone is backed up by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee A1 Plus runs company’s proprietary Amigo 4.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The Gionee A1 Plus also features a front-mounted fingerprint recognition button that is claimed to unlock the smartphone just within 0.2 seconds.
For photography, the Gionee A1 Plus houses a dual camera setup on the rear along with a LED flash. One camera sports a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, while the other camera comes equipped with a 5-megapixel sensor. The rear camera features include phase detection autofocus (PDAF), 1/3-inch sensor size, 5P lens and full-HD (1080p) video recording support. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and soft LED flash for capturing bright selfies and making video calls even in low lit conditions.
In terms of connectivity, the Gionee A1 Plus supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD) slot. That means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone offers various connectivity options including 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (a/b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port for fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Gionee A1 Plus comes packed with a high-density 4,550mAh non-removable battery with 18W ultra-fast charging power adapter support for fast charging. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, E-compass, Fingerprint sensor (front-mounted) and Gyroscope sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1 mm and weighs 226 grams.
