Soon after launching the Canvas 1 smartphone in India, Home-grown handset manufacturer Micromax on Friday silently launched a latest mid-range Android smartphone, dubbed as the “Micromax Selfie 2” in India. The new Micromax Selfie 2 is an upgraded variant of the company’s previous “Canvas Selfie 2”, which was launched in India in August 2015. Unfortunately, the pricing details and the availability of the new Selfie 2 have not been revealed by the company yet. But it will be available for purchase in India pretty soon. The Micromax Selfie 2 is currently now listed on the company’s official website, revealing almost all the specifications and features about the Canvas Selfie 2. The key highlights of the smartphone are its latest Android OS, 13MP rear camera, and selfie-flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light conditions. Interestingly, the Micromax Selfie 2 also comes bundled with a 100-day replacement scheme on any hardware issue of the device, which is applicable from the date of activation. Micromax will replace the faulty smartphone with the same or equivalent model in the first 100 days from the date of activation of the device. Note that, this 100-day replacement scheme is a part of the 1-year total warranty period.

A couple of days ago, Micromax announced a 100-day replacement warranty on any hardware problem for its all latest feature phones. To claim this replacement scheme, the feature phones should be activated and fall under the company’s given 1-year warranty period. The replacement will only be done when a hardware problem or a software issue is not possible to fix. If the eligible devices require a hardware repair, the faulty feature phones will be replaced with the same or an equivalent model by the company.

Design wise, the Micromax Selfie 2 sports a sleek metal unibody design with metal edges, giving it an overall fresh and classy outlook. The volume rockers as well as the power/lock button are all placed on the right-hand edge of the smartphone and a 3.5mm audio socket is housed on the very top edge of the device. The speaker grilles are seen at the rear end of the device, while a microUSB 2.0 charging port is situated at the bottom edge of the smartphone. The front panel houses capacitive navigation touch buttons on the bottom with a capsule-sized physical Home button while the top front panel features the selfie camera, LED flash, and the earpiece. The rear panel of the device houses a fingerprint recognition button, a 13MP camera and an LED flash module.

In terms of specifications, though the website doesn’t mention about its screen size, it seems like that the Micromax Selfie 2 will feature a 5.2-inch HD IPS Display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Talking about its software front, Micromax Selfie 2 runs company’s own custom skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Android 7.0 Nougat introduces notable changes to the OS (operating system) and its development platform. So all the latest features of the OS are present in the device such as multi-window view, reply in the notification panel, new quick settings option, enhanced “Doze” power-saving mode, etc.

In terms of optics, Micromax Selfie 2 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, OV 8856 sensor, 84-degree field of view, and LED flash. The rear camera also supports features like Auto Scene Detection, Panorama and Super Pixel 5200M. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, Sony IM135 sensor, Blue Glass IR Filter, 5P lens and an LED flash for capturing bright selfies even in low light situations. The front camera modes include Real Time Bokeh Effect, Wide Angle, One Touch Shot and Face Beauty Mode. On the battery front, the Micromax Selfie 2 comes packed with a decent 3000mAh non-removable battery. Apart from this, we don’t have any other information about the smartphone but we will update you pretty soon when we know more.
