As a part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations, State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Wednesday launched a new combo voucher for its prepaid subscribers, called the “Rakhi pe Saugaat” plan. The new BSNL “Rakhi pe Saugaat” plan offers its prepaid subscribers unlimited voice calling and 1GB 3G data per day for five days. Under this special plan, BSNL customers recharging with Rs. 74 can avail free unlimited voice calling to the same network and any region in the country, along with 1GB of 3G mobile data per day for a period of 5 days, totalling 5GB 3G data for the period. Further, the plan offers a main talk time balance of Rs. 74, so that BSNL subscribers can make calls on the other networks. The “Rakhi pe Saugaat” plan has been launched in the country exclusively for the Raksha Bandhan festival, it will be effective starting from today (August 3) and will be available only for next 12 days (until August 15, 2017).

R. K. Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL Board said, “Maintaining its tradition BSNL is offering such cheapest tariffs on festivities.” In addition to this offer, few Combo vouchers have been launched which offers up to 18 percent extra talk value with 1 GB free data i.e. Rs.189, 289and 389 which is competitive in the industry.”

BSNL has recently launched three new recharge plans for Punjab and Gujarat BSNL subscribers as per a listing on the BSNL’s official website. These new recharge plans include one special tariff voucher (STV) plan (Rs. 258) and two combo vouchers (Rs. 378, and Rs. 548). The new Rs. 258, Rs. 378, and Rs. 548 plans offer its Punjab and Gujarat subscribers unlimited on-net voice calls and up to 5G data per day for 90 days. BSNL Rs. 258 STV (special tariff voucher) plan offers its subscribers a main talk time balance of Rs. 220 and 110 free on-net voice calls for a period of 30 days. BSNL Rs. 378 combo voucher plan offers unlimited on-net calls along with 30 minutes of off-net calls per day and 4GB internet data per day for a period of 30 days. Lastly, BSNL Rs. 548 plan offers 5GB data per day with FUP limit for a period of 90 days. After FUP limit, the internet speed will be decreased to 80 Kbps. Unfortunately, the Rs. 548 plan doesn’t offer any voice calling benefits.

With the launch of its new ‘Rakhi pe Saugaat’ scheme, state-owned telecom operator is aggressively going to compete against the major telecom company like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular Vodafone India, and others. Needless to say, in the Indian telecom industry, the entry of Reliance Jio is a great momentum behind the new-age price war.

Just in case you’d forgotten, the State-owned telecom operator also launched some interesting “voice and data centric” plans in the country such as the “BSNL Chaukka 444 plan”, “BSNL Sixer-666”, “Dil khol k Bol-349” and “Triple ACE-333” plan, which the company claims it got a ‘successful response’. Under this voice and data centric offer, customers recharging with Rs. 666 can avail free unlimited voice calling to any network and any region in the country, along with 2GB of 2G or 3G (depending on the circle) mobile data for a period of 60 days. After 60 days the customer can also switch to BSNL’s other existing plans like “BSNL Chauka-444”, “Triple Ace-333” or “Dil khol k Bol-349”. BSNL’s Triple Ace 333 plan offers unlimited 3G data for two months (recently revised) with a FUP limit of 3GB per day, that means customers recharging with Rs. 333 can avail a total of 168GB 3G data for 56 days.

On the other hand, Idea Cellular recently unveiled a new plan, offering 1GB data per day along with unlimited calls (same network Local+STD) at a recharge of Rs. 396. Bharti Airtel is also offering 1GB 4G data per day with unlimited calls (same network Local+STD) at a recharge of Rs. 244.

Vodafone has recently launched a “Campus Survival Kit” for the new college students in Delhi-NCR region. Under this “Campus Survival Kit” scheme, students recharging with Rs. 445 can avail free unlimited voice calling to any network and any region in the country, free SMS, along with 1GB data per day for 84 days. Last month, Vodafone also announced an affordable First Recharge Coupon (FRC) 244 for its new 4G pre-paid customers. Under this “FRC 244” special recharge, new subscribers recharging with Rs. 244 can avail free unlimited voice calling to the same network and any region in the country, along with 1GB of 3G/4G data per day for a period of 70 days, totalling 70GB 3G/4G data for the period.
