Amsterdam-based electronics company Philips on Saturday expanded its Xenium smartphone series portfolio with the launch of a new mid-range device, called the “Xenium V787 Plus” in the Russian tech market. Priced at RUB 14,990 (approximately Rs. 15,900 or USD 249), the new Philips Xenium V787 Plus is now already made available for purchase in Russia in Black colour option. The Philips Xenium V787 Plus is the successor to the company’s previous Xenium V787 smartphone, which was launched in 2016. As of now, Philips has not revealed exactly when the Xenium V787 Plus will be launched in the Indian market nor there is any information about its international availability. The key highlights of the new smartphone are its mammoth 5000mAh Battery, metal design, 13MP rear camera and a 5-inch full-HD display with Philips SoftBlue technology support.
As far as specifications are concerned, the new Philips Xenium V787 Plus comes equipped with a 5-inch full-HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistance Asahi DragonTrail 2 glass coating on top of the display. The IPS LCD display also comes with company’s SoftBlue technology, a suite of visual enhancement technologies that effectively reduces the amount of harmful short-wave blue light emitted from the LCD display panels without affecting the colour or image of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali T720 video card to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Xenium V787 Plus is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a micro SD card. On the software front, the Philips Xenium V787 Plus runs on Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box.
For photography, the Philips Xenium V787 Plus sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, Isocell sensor, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and an LED flash module. Talking about its selfie camera, the smartphone features a 5.3-megapixel resolution front-facing shooter for capturing selfies and making video calls. The rear-facing camera is also capable of recording full-HD (1080p) resolution videos at 30fps. Unfortunately, the phone does not feature a fingerprint sensor.
In terms of connectivity, the Philips Xenium V787 Plus is a dual SIM smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM cards. Apart from this, the device also offers various connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio, a 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and other connectivity. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and Gyroscope sensor. On the battery front, the Philips Xenium V787 Plus comes packed with a massive 5,000mAh Lithium-Polymer battery which claims to deliver up to 24 hours of battery life on normal to heavy usage. Dimensionally, the handset measures 71.5 x 143.2 x 9.8 mm and weighs 164 grams.
