Soon after launching the Note 5 Lite C in the Indian market, now it seems like the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Coolpad is all set to launch its latest mid-range smartphone with 6GB RAM, dubbed as the “Coolpad Cool Play 6” in the Indian tech market pretty soon. The company has already started sending out the media invites for its “Live to Play” launch event, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 20. At the event, Coolpad will be announcing the pricing details and availability of its latest gaming smartphone, the Coolpad Cool Play 6.
Coolpad India on Thursday shared a teaser image about the company’s latest smartphone launch event on its official Facebook account. The Facebook post reads, “The Supreme 6 is all set to go! Grab your 6 before anybody else as an early technology adaptor! 20th Aug, waiting for the 6 Era. #LiveToPlay #6MakesDiffernce.” Unfortunately, the pricing details and the availability of the Coolpad Cool Play 6 have not been revealed by the company yet but as expected it might be revealed on the day of launching.

If you don’t remember, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 was first launched in China in the month of May this year with a price tag of CNY 1499 (approximately Rs 14,000/$217). Targeted at gaming enthusiasts, Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes equipped with a massive 6GB of RAM and mammoth sized 4060mAh battery to justify its tag of a gaming phone. The device also packs some decent hardware that can run high-end games such as Nova 5, Asphalt Xtreme, etc. In the Indian market, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 will likely to be priced somewhere in between the Rs. 13,000 and Rs. 15,000.
Talking about its specifications, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD in-cell display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The phone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 chipset (Quad 1.95GHz ARM Cortex A72 and Quad 1.44GHz A53) paired with Adreno 510 GPU to handle the graphics. The Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card. On the software front, the device runs company’s own custom UI, based on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
In terms of optics, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 features a dual camera setup with two 13-megapixel Sony sensors for monochrome and depth of field functions, similar to the setup seen on Coolpad Cool 1 Dual. The main sensor comes with 6P lens, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture, autofocus as well as dual-tone LED flash. On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.
On the connectivity front, this dual SIM smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 ac/a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port for superfast charging and data transfer. The Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes packed with a powerful 4060 mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 252 hours on standby time, up to 8 hours of video playback time, up to 9 hours of web browsing and up to 6 hours of extreme gaming. The handset measures 152 x 75.2 x 8.45mm and weighs 170 grams.
