From critics to common people, and to everyone, who is a cinema-goer, Wonder Woman has made a positive impact over almost every mind-until now. It initiated a new rise of female empowerment too, across all ages and has been called the best ‘female superhero portrayal’ in the history. Though, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion; sometimes the greatest thing can’t be the ideal one to each and every person. This seems the case for acclaimed director James Cameron, who recently expressed his views on the DC movie directed by Patty Jenkins.

In his interaction with The Guardian, speaking on the re-release of his iconic Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 3D, when the director was asked about the ‘Wonder Woman impact’, he said that the film is actually ‘a step back’ for representing females on-screen and that the character is itself is an ‘objectified icon’.

“All of the self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood’s been doing over Wonder Woman has been so misguided. She’s an objectified icon, and it’s just male Hollywood doing the same old thing! I’m not saying I didn’t like the movie but, to me, it’s a step backwards. Sarah Connor was not a beauty icon. She was strong, she was troubled, she was a terrible mother, and she earned the respect of the audience through pure grit. And to me, [the benefit of characters like Sarah] is so obvious. I mean, half the audience is female!”
