After launching the Redmi Note 5A in the Chinese market last week, Beijing-based electronics company Xiaomi is all to launch its next “flagship dual camera” smartphone, called the “Xiaomi Mi 5X” in the Indian tech market pretty soon. The company has already started sending out the media invitations for its next dual-camera phone launch event next week, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, September 5 in the land of New Delhi, India. The official page for the Xiaomi Mi 5X is also live on Xiaomi’s website and the official page shows that the company will host a press conference on September 5 in New Delhi. At the launch event, Xiaomi will be announcing the India pricing and availability of the smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5X. This launch event will also be a global launch event and Indian Mi Fans can also register their name and e-mail ID on Xiaomi website (before August 31, 10:00 PM) to stand a chance to get tickets for the launch event. Selected applicants will be notified by email by September 2 at 12:00 PM IST. Xiaomi Mi 5X India launch event will also be live streamed on company’s official website. Xiaomi India on Monday shared a teaser image about the Xiaomi’s next smartphone launch event on its official Twitter account. On the other hand, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain’s tweets appear to hint at the upcoming launch. The tweet seems to suggest that the company is planning to announce an another big launch in the country in September. Mr. Jain wrote in his tweet: “Save the date: 5 Sept 2017! Flagship Dual Camera launching soon ☺️ #XiaomiGlobalLaunch #FlagshipDualCamera. RT if you are excited. @xiaomi.” Though the “Save the date” press invite doesn’t reveal any clear information about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone or which specific smartphone will be launched at the event, it is likely to be the Xiaomi’s flagship dual-camera smartphone Mi 5X.

If you don’t remember, the Xiaomi Mi 5X was first launched in China in July this year with a price tag of CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 14,300). The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes in three exciting body colour options including Black, Gold and Pink. In the Indian smartphone market, the Xiaomi Mi 5X will likely to be priced somewhere in between the Rs 13,000 and Rs 14,000. The main highlights of the Mi 5X are its dual rear camera setup, Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI 9.0 operating system, crystal clear audio with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm.
Technically speaking, the Xiaomi Mi 5X comes equipped with a 5.5-inch full-HD LTPS display with a screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clubbed with Adreno 506 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Mi 5X is backed up by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the smartphone runs company’s latest MIUI 9 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Mi 5X sports a dual primary camera setup at the rear that comes combined with two 12-megapixel sensors. One camera houses a 12-megapixel sensor with wide angle lens, 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, while another camera comes equipped with a 12-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom, 1-micron pixel sensor and f/2.6 aperture. The main camera features also include Dual-LED flash module and Portrait Mode for bokeh effects. On the front, the Mi 5X features a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with real-time beautification for capturing better selfies.
In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi 5X supports dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD) slot. That means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (a/b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, IR Blaster, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port for fast charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the Xiaomi Mi 5X comes packed with a decent 3080mAh battery. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Magnetometer, Infrared, Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted) and Gyroscope sensor. Dimensionally, the handset measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 165 grams.
