Soon after launching P77 smartphone with an upgraded inbuilt storage in India, Japanese electronics company Panasonic on Wednesday launched a new budget-oriented device, called the “Panasonic P9” in the Indian phone market. Panasonic India has already updated its budget smartphones catalogue with the launch of a slew of budget and entry-level smartphones in the country this year. Priced at Rs. 6,290, the new Panasonic P9 is now already made available for purchase in India through Panasonic brand shops as well as all leading offline retail outlets across the country in Champagne Gold and Black colour options. The main USPs of the handset are its Asahi DragonTrail glass protected display, Android 7.0 Nougat OS, 4G VoLTE support, Quick Switching and Quick Reply features.

Technically speaking, the Panasonic P9 comes equipped with a 5-inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a scratch resistant Asahi Dragon Trail glass protection on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core 1.1GHz MediaTek MT6737M processor clubbed with Mali T720 GPU to take care of graphics. In terms of memory, the Panasonic P9 is backed up by a 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the handset runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
In terms of photography, the Panasonic P9 features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, an f/2.0 aperture and LED flash for excellent low-light photography. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.4 aperture for making video calls and capturing selfies.
For connectivity, this dual SIM smartphone offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, and Ambient Light Sensor. On the battery front, the Panasonic P9 comes packed with a decent 2,210mAh battery. Dimension wise, the handset measures 144.5 x 72.95 x 8.6mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 144 grams.
