Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu on Wednesday announced the launched of its latest budget-oriented smartphone, called the “Meizu M6” in the company’s homeland, China. The Meizu M6 comes in two different variants based on its RAM and native storage configuration – Meizu M6 with 2GB RAM & 16GB internal storage, and Meizu M6 with 3GB RAM & 32GB internal storage. As for pricing, the Meizu M6 with 2GB RAM & 16GB internal storage variant has been launched in China with a price tag of CNY 699 (approximately Rs. 6,800), while for the top-spec variant with 3GB RAM & 32GB internal storage, you have to pay CNY 899 (approximately Rs. 8,800). All the variants or models will be up for pre-order in China starting today and the same will be made available for purchase in China starting September 25 (Monday) via company’s official online store in Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Matte Black and Electric Blue colour options.

The big highlights of the smartphone are its 13MP rear-facing camera, Android 7.0 Nougat OS with Flyme 6.0 custom UI skin, mTouch fingerprint sensor and 4G VoLTE support. Design wise, the Meizu M6 sports an all-metal unibody design with metal curved edges, giving it an overall premium outlook. Alongside the Meizu M6 smartphone, the Chinese vendor also launched a new and heavy-duty power bank, Meizu M20. The new Meizu M20 features a 10,000mAh 38.5Wh lithium-polymer battery with two-way fast charging support, similar to its predecessor that was launched in 2015. The accessory has a power output of 24W and input of 18W. The 18W input technology allows you to charge the power bank fully in just 3.5 hours using a fast charger. Carried a price tag of CNY 169 (approximately Rs. 1,650), the new Meizu M20 will be made available for purchase in China starting September 24 in Grey, Green, Red and Blue colour options. Dimensionally, the power bank measures 148.5 x 75.7 x 17.5 mm.

Meizu M6 specifications & Features:

As far as specifications are concerned, the new Meizu M6 flaunts a 5.2-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor paired with Mali T860 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Meizu M6 is backed up by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage or 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the Meizu M6 runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with company’s proprietary Flyme 6.0 custom UI skin running on top. The Meizu M6 also features a front-mounted mTouch fingerprint sensor that is housed underneath a capsule-sized physical Home Button of the device. The company claims that the fingerprint recognition button unlocks the phone in as little as 0.2 seconds.

In terms of photography, the Meizu M6 sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with PDAF, an f/2.2 aperture, and 4-color RGBW flash. On the front, the handset houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for clicking selfies and making video calls. Talking about its other features, the Meizu M6 comes with company’s own One Mind AI Engine and supports ArcSoft image optimisation algorithm.

On the connectivity front, the Meizu M6 offers various connectivity options including dual-SIM dual standby (using a Hybrid Dual-SIM slot), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB charging port. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, and Fingerprint (front-mounted) sensor. On the battery front, the Meizu M6 is fuelled by a decent 3,070mAh battery. Dimension wise, the handset measures 148.2 x 72.8 x 8.3 mm and weighs around 143 grams.
