After launching the Gionee X1s smartphone in India last week, Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer Gionee on Monday expanded its ‘M Series’ of smartphones portfolio with the launch of two new mid-range smartphones, called the “Gionee M7 and Gionee M7 Power/Big Gold Steel 2” in the company’s homeland, China. As for pricing, the Gionee M7 has been launched in China with a price tag of CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs. 27,500), while the Gionee M7 Power has been priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 19,665). Carried a such an attractive price tag, the Gionee M7 will be made available for purchase in China starting from tomorrow (September 26) in Sapphire Blue, Star Blue, Maple Red, Champagne Gold and Black colour options, while the low-spec variant Gionee M7 Power will be available for purchase in China starting September 30 (Saturday) in Blue, Black and Gold colour options. The key highlights of the smartphones are their FullView display, Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, dual security chips for safe mobile payments and powerful batteries. Both the smartphones feature rear-mounted fingerprint for recognition button for the biometric authentication process.

Gionee M7 Features and Specifications:

Starting with the bigger version, the new Gionee M7 sports a 6.01-inch Full HD+ FullView AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P30 octa-core processor coupled with ARM Mali-G71 MP2 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the device is backed up by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee M7 runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with company’s proprietary Amigo OS 5.0 custom UI skin running on top.

In terms of photography, the Gionee M7 comes equipped with a dual rear-facing camera setup, which is the main highlight of this device. However, the dual rear-facing camera setup includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, 6P lens, LED flash, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front side, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel selfie camera for capturing selfies and making video calls.

For connectivity, the Gionee M7 supports dual-SIM dual standby using the Hybrid Dual SIM configuration (micro+nano/microSD). That means you can either use this as a dual-SIM phone without memory card option or single-SIM phone with memory card option. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.5 GHz & 5.0 GHz), hotspot, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, FM Radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Fingerprint (rear-mounted), Gyroscope and E-compass sensor. On the battery front, the Gionee M7 packs a powerful 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Dimensionally, the device measures 157 × 76 × 7.2mm and weighs 180 grams.

Moving on the smaller version, the Gionee M7 Power comes equipped with a 6-inch HD+ FullView display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass protection on top. The display has an 18:9 aspect ratio and offers a mind-blowing screen-to-body ratio. Talking about its power and performance, the Gionee M7 Power draws its power from a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor, which comes clubbed with Adreno 505 GPU to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes loaded with a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. Talking about its software front, the Gionee M7 Power also runs company’s proprietary Amigo OS 5.0 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.

In terms of optics, the Gionee M7 Power sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, the smartphone bears an 8-megapixel selfie camera for capturing selfies and making video calls. On the connectivity front, the Gionee M7 Power supports dual-SIM dual standby (nano+nano/microSD), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the battery front, the Gionee M7 Power packs a high-density 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Dimension wise, the handset measures 156.3 × 75.6 × 8.6mm and weighs 187 grams.
