Huawei’s sub-brand Honor on Wednesday launched their latest mid-range handset, called the “Honor 7X” at an event in China. At the same event, the Chinese vendor has also announced the launch of its latest waterproof tablet, dubbed as the “Honor WaterPlay” in China. The new Honor WaterPlay comes equipped with some decent and smart specifications such as IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, premium metal unibody design, fingerprint sensor, a high-density 6,660mAh battery and four Harman Kardon-tuned speakers that offers 3D surround sound for an immersive audio experience.

The Honor WaterPlay comes in three different variants based on its RAM and internal storage configuration: Honor WaterPlay with 3GB RAM and 32GB of native storage (Wi-Fi model), which is priced at CNY 1999 (approx. Rs. 19,800), Honor WaterPlay with 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage (Wi-Fi model), which has been priced at CNY 2399 (approx. Rs. 23,700) and Honor WaterPlay with 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage (4G LTE model), which has been priced at CNY 2699 (approx. Rs. 26,700). All these aforementioned variants and are now available for pre-order in China, while the same will be going on sale in China starting October 24 in Silver and Champagne Gold colours.

Talking about its specifications, the Honor WaterPlay comes with a 10.1-inch QXGA display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and offers 70 percent NTSC colour gamut. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a 2.36GHz Kirin 659 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali T830 MP2 image processing unit to handle the graphics content. In terms of memory, the Honor WaterPlay is backed up by a 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card. Talking about its software fronts, the Honor WaterPlay runs company’s proprietary EMUI 5.1 custom UI skin, based on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The tablet is also IP67 certified that means the WaterPlay is water and dust resistant. For high-grade security, the WaterPlay also features a front-mounted fingerprint sensor that is housed underneath the physical Home button on the digital slate.

In terms of photography, the Honor WaterPlay features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus and LED flashlight. On the front, the tablet sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for capturing selfies. Connectivity options offered by the tablet include 4G LTE with voice calling support (model wise), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, and a USB Type-C for charging and data transfer. On the battery front, the tablet is fuelled by a powerful 6,660mAh battery with fast charging support. The Chinese vendor claims that the battery is able to deliver up to 9 hours of internet browsing, 13 hours of video playback time and up to 800 hours of standby time on a single charge. Dimensionally, the Honor WaterPlay measures 248 x 173 x 7.8 mm and weighs 465 grams.
